Helen B. Sharp

Mrs. Helen B. Sharp, 79, a business owner, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital in Jackson.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at the Chapel of Ott & Lee Funeral Home in Brandon with burial to follow in Lakewood Memorial Park South. Visitation is 4 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 29, 2008, and 10 a.m. until service time Tuesday.
Mrs. Sharp was born into a rural Christian family in Jeff Davis County near Bassfield, Miss. She chopped cotton and helped around the family farm growing up. One of nine children, Mrs. Sharp was baptized a Child of God in the Bouie River and remained faithful until her death. She had been a resident of Brandon since 1997, when she moved from South Jackson, where she and her husband had lived for 35 years.
Her pride and joy was her four grandchildren, for whom no sacrifice was too great. Most everyone who knew “Granny,” knew her grandchildren’s accomplishments. She enjoyed working in Market Research & Promotions, of which she was the owner, and worked until a few months before her death. She was a member of Crossgates Baptist Church in Brandon.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James C. Sharp.
Survivors include two sons, Jim Sharp and wife Sharon of Senatobia, Miss., and Tom Sharp and wife Vickie of Brandon; four grandchildren, Lauren Sharp and Scott Sharp, both of Senatobia, and John Sharp and Brett Sharp, both of Brandon; one sister, Glynda Joyce Jones and husband James of Brandon; and a number of nieces and nephews.
