Ancell Cedell Major

AURORA, Ill. — Ancell Cedell “Andy” Major, formerly of Vicksburg, died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Ill. He was 51.

Mr. Major was a 1976 graduate of Warren Central High School, where he was on the basketball team. He attended Alcorn State University and was a member of the Six Sigma.

He was a quality control manager for Johnson Control Inc. of Aurora.

Mr. Major was preceded in death by his mother, Lillie Douglas Major; his father, Jacob Clarence Major Jr.; his maternal grandparents, James Douglas and Georgia Lumpkin Douglas; and his paternal grandparents, Jacob Clarence Major Sr. and Viola Randle Major.

Survivors include his wife, Millicent Lyons Major of Aurora; one son, William Henry Major of Aurora; one daughter, Michelle S. Barnum of Vicksburg; a brother, Hugh Major of Vicksburg; four sisters, Geneverette C. Major of Athens, Ga., Sophiea A. Major-Boyd of Jackson and Lupfunzell D. Major and Carmi A. Major, both of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
