Ancell Cedell Major

AURORA, Ill. — Services for Ancell Cedell “Andy” Major, formerly of Vicksburg, will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Carlton Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Major died Saturday, Sept. 27, 2008, at Rush Copley Medical Center in Aurora, Ill. He was 51.

Mr. Major was born in Vicksburg. He was a 1975 graduate of Warren Central High School, where he was on the basketball team. He attended Alcorn State University and was a member of the Six Sigma.

He was a quality control manager for Johnson Control Inc. of Aurora.

Mr. Major was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Douglas Major; his father, Jacob Clarence Major Jr.; his maternal grandparents, James Douglas and Georgia Lumpkin Douglas; and his paternal grandparents, Jacob Clarence Major Sr. and Viola Randle Major.

Survivors include his wife, Millicent Lyons Major of Aurora; one son, William Henry Major of Aurora; one daughter, Michelle S. Barnum of Vicksburg; a brother, Hugh Major of Vicksburg; four sisters, Geneverette C. Major of Athens, Ga., Sophiea A. Major-Boyd of Jackson and Lupfunzell D. Major and Carmi A. Major, both of Vicksburg; three grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
