Services for Walter Jones Jr. will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at W.H. Jefferson Funeral Home Chapel under the direction of Dillon-Chisley Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be at Jefferson Funeral Home Tuesday from noon until the service.

Mr. Jones died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at Promise Hospital. He was 58.

Mr. Jones retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Vicksburg District Mat Sinking Unit. He was an Army veteran, having served in Vietnam. He was a 1970 graduate of Rosa A. Temple High School.

He is survived by his wife, Shelly Jones of Vicksburg; his stepchildren, Jackie Brown Jr., Roderick Brown and Lasonya Brown, all of Vicksburg; one brother, Donald Carl Jones of Vicksburg; and other relatives, including Mary Moore, Harold Bell and James Jones, all of Vicksburg.
