Patrick Brinkley is described by his mother as a 6-foot-4 lean man with a dancing style that turns heads.

“He dances on his head and makes up his own dance moves,” said his mother, Vivian Brinkley. “He has his own unique style.”

That might just be the reason Patrick Brinkley was chosen 2008 Harley-Davidson Hot Model and will be flown to Los Angeles for a photo shoot to be featured in the 2009 Harley-Davidson catalog.

“He wasn’t even trying to win in the contest,” Mrs. Brinkley said.

In March, Patrick Brinkley and his brother, Arthur, traveled to Daytona Beach, Fla., for the Harley-Davidson 105th Anniversary motorcycle bike rally. When they arrived at the bike rally, they discovered the hot-modeling contest, which was to win a chance to be featured in the 2009 Harley-Davidson MotorClothes catalog.

Though Patrick said he entered the hot-model contest purely as a joke, his style and natural good looks apparently made him a winner.

More than 8,000 bikers from across the nation attended the gathering that featured Bruce Springsteen and Run DMC. Patrick won the preliminary competition in Daytona Beach which qualified him to compete in Wisconsin on Aug. 29 with contestants from across the nation. That’s when he took the national title.

“I am very, very excited,” Brinkley said. “This is an experience of a lifetime to be in a competition. It was unexpected and it’s amazing. This could be just the beginning — as far as the modeling career goes.”

Mrs. Brinkley said her son has had a few modeling offers and has been chosen as a Michael Jordan look-alike a few times in contests in Texas, where he now lives and works as a warehouse manager for a furniture store.

Brinkley attended Culkin Elementary School, Warren Central Junior High and Warren Central High and attended Newton Junior College on a basketball scholarship.

“Patrick grew up right on the muddy banks of the Mississippi River,” said his mother.
