A Warren County man was shot in the hand and then shot the tire of a woman’s car outside his home Saturday night.

The victim, Steven Carlisle, no age available, 475 Roy Young Road, was taken to River Region Medical Center, where a spokesman said about three hours after the 6 p.m. shooting that the condition was still being assessed.

Donna Bailey, 51, 715 Roy Young Road, who is the sister of Carlisle’s wife, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault and shooting into an occupied dwelling, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said Saturday.

He said Bailey drove up to the home of the victim, remained in her car but shouted for Carlisle and his wife. “She then produced a handgun and had apparently already fired one shot, maybe more than one shot at the house,” Pace said. “He attempted to take the gun away from her. That’s when he was shot.”

Pace said Carlisle went inside and got a gun, returned outside and shot one of the tires on Bailey’s car. She drove back to her home, where she got into a different car and left. Deputies arrested her a short time later at Hackler Cemetery off Flowers Hill Road, Pace said.

Bailey was at the Warren County Jail Saturday night, and bond will be set Monday, Pace said.

Pace said Carlisle was not charged.

Greenbriar fire reignites, heavily damages home

A tenacious house fire at 210 Greenbriar Drive has left a home a probable loss, Warren County Volunteer Fire Department coordinator Kelly Worthy said Saturday.

No injuries were reported.

The fire first broke out around 8 p.m. Friday. Residents were not home, but returned around 8:30 p.m., said Vicksburg Patrolman Robert Whitten, a volunteer with the Fisher Ferry Volunteer Fire Department, which, along with the Culkin Volunteer Fire Department responded to the call.

One bedroom and one bathroom were damaged by fire, Whitten said, and the house sustained smoke and heat damage. Firefighters extinguished the fire and left around 9:30 p.m., he said. Residents also left the home.

Around 2 a.m. Saturday, another call came in that the house was on fire, and flames were seen coming through the roof, Whitten said. When firefighters arrived, they found about half the house involved.

Whitten added that the home was “still smoldering a little” Saturday afternoon, and firemen were continuing to watch it to make sure it did not flare up again. The cause of the blaze was not known.

Break-ins, thefts reported at two cars at casinos

Rifles and audio equipment were reported stolen from two vehicles parked in casino parking areas, Sgt. Beverly Prentiss of the Vicksburg Police Department said Saturday.

A Marlin .22-caliber rifle and a Marlin 410-gauge shotgun were reported stolen from a 1988 Ford F-150 pickup at 2:59 a.m. Saturday. The truck was parked in one of the Horizon parking garages. The guns have a combined value of $350, Prentiss said.

Two 10-inch box speakers and an amplifier with a combined value of $200 were reported stolen from a 1998 Chevrolet Malibu parked in the lot of DiamondJacks Casino. The burglary was reported at 8:51 p.m. Friday. Entry was gained by jimmying the driver’s side door, Prentiss said.
