From staff reports

Two people were injured, above, when a Freightliner semi-truck driven by Jack Harrison, 31, of 1185 Paradise Lane in Wesson, backed into a 2005 Nissan Altima driven by Tamisha Stowers, 29, 128 Village Drive. The car was at Veto and Monroe streets when the truck, attempting to turn left but without enough room, backed up and hit it. Stowers and a passenger, Patrick Smith, 33, 2727 Alcorn, Apt. 47, both on stretchers, were treated and released from River Region Medical Center. At right, Mississippi State Trooper Wayne Smith is removed from his vehicle after he was injured in a wreck at Belva Drive and U.S. 61 South. Smith was northbound when his cruiser collided with a 1998 Oldsmobile driven by William Wooley, 85, of 6150 Nailor Road. Smith and Wooley were treated and released, a hospital spokesman said.
