Mr. McFatter, Miss Watkins are wed

Daniel Hurley McFatter and Lauren Elizabeth Watkins were married at 7 p.m. May 17, 2008, at First Presbyterian Church in Oxford. The Rev. John Semmes officiated at the ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Garner Watkins Jr. of Madison. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Levin Hailey of Gholson and the late Walter Garner Watkins Sr. and Mrs. Sam Permenter of Macon and the late Mr. Permenter.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hurley McFatter of Port Gibson. He is the grandson of the late Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Hurley McFatter Sr. of Port Gibson and Barbara Wall Alonzo of Ridgeland and the late John Donald Alonzo of Duson, La.
The First Presbyterian choir and the Wedding Festival String Quartet presented nuptial music.
Escorted by her father, the bride wore a designer, strapless gown of white and ivory with Alencon lace in a modified A-line style. A sweetheart neckline and circular godet skirt finished the ensemble.
Her mantilla-style, chapel-length veil was trimmed in Alencon lace.
She carried a bouquet of white Emanuel roses bound with antique ribbon and an heirloom pin.
Matrons of honor were Lauren Butts, Clare Rush and Michelle Veazey. Maid of honor was Ashley Fry. Bridesmaids were Brittany Bailey, Lindsey Blackwell, Emily Evans, Natalie Farber, Katie Grogan, Ann Barrett Ladner, Elizabeth Newman, Betsy Watkins, Alexandra Wilkes and Laura Beth Wilson.
Junior bridesmaid was Mary Garner Veazey.
The attendants wore strapless gowns of black satin created with a sweetheart neckline. They each carried handtied bouquets of white peonies and green cymbidium orchids.
Honor attendants were Lauren Clay, Amanda Pounds, Patricia Tamminga and Jessica Wood. Flower girls were Bella Shipman, Annie Watkins and Polly Watkins.
The groom’s father served as best man. Groomsmen were Kevin Batte, Drew Bottalico, Matthew Burrell, Wesley Clay, Hunter Charbonnet, Cass Dodgen, Andrew Balbierz, Justin Spencer, Meredith Spencer, Ron Veazey, Sam Waters and Trey Watkins.
Ushers were Breland Applewhite, Casey Butts, Wesley Mockbee, Anthony Rector, Day Veazey and Will Veazey.
Ring bearers were Jake Veazey and Garner Watkins.
Serving as rose petal attendants were Rebecca Costas and Avenelle Newman. Anna Rush served as the bride’s proxy.
Following the ceremony, with a jazz band playing atop the Double Decker bus, the wedding party was transported to The Powerhouse, where the bride’s parents hosted a reception.
Guests were entertained with music by the show band, Burning Las Vegas.
After a honeymoon in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, the couple is residing in Jackson.
Rehearsal dinner
On the eve of the wedding, the grooms’ parents entertained the bridal party and friends with a rehearsal dinner at the University Club.
