Six people have been arrested in the Tuesday house-fire deaths of three Oak Grove siblings, said a release from the Louisiana State Police.
Arrested and charged with first-degree murder Friday were Nicholas Hullaby, 19, Joe Nathan Smith, 19, and Eldrick Smith, 18, all of Oak Grove; Hurk Harris, 32, of Lake Providence; and a 15-year-old. A sixth person, Marcus Jones, 18, of Oak Grove, was on Wednesday charged with conspiracy to commit aggravated arson, but his charge was upgraded to first-degree murder.
The motive, the release said, was believed to be an ongoing dispute.
Killed in the fire at 218 Bonaire Drive were Devin Christmas, 4, Derrick Davis, 17, and Tiffany Davis, 19. Their mother, Linda Christmas, and another sibling escaped the blaze and were treated at the West Carroll Hospital for smoke inhalation.
Participating in the investigation were Louisiana state police, state fire marshals, West Carroll sheriff’s deputies and Oak Grove police.
