Hobnobbing in Vicksburg

State Insurance Commissioner Mike Chaney, right, a former state senator from Vicksburg, chats Monday evening with U.S. Senate candidates Republican Roger Wicker, left, and Democrat Ronnie Musgrove. The candidates were in Vicksburg to shake hands and visit with participants at the 2008 Mississippi Association of Supervisors Fall Educational Workshop and Annual Conference at the Vicksburg Convention Center. The supervisors will be in Vicksburg through Wednesday. Wicker and Musgrove, whose names will appear on the Nov. 4 ballots statewide, are vying to fill the position left vacant by the retirement of Sen. Trent Lott in December. Wicker, a former member of the U.S. House of Representatives, was appointed interim senator by Gov. Haley Barbour, a Republican. Musgrove was governor for one term before Barbour’s election.
