Mattie Nichols

PATTISON — Mattie Nichols died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 93.

A Pattison resident, Mrs. Nichols was a member of Rose Hill Christian Church in Lorman and the Baptist Aid.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wash Nichols; her parents, Richard and Charlotte Johnson-Green; two daughters, Lottie Hayes and Rosie Lee Warner; and a son, Tony Warner.

She is survived by a daughter, Margaret Green-Butler of Pattison; seven stepdaughters, Evelyn Byrd, Mary Conway, Elizabeth Dardin-Washington, Alma J. Johnson, Pearlina Quick, Sarah Summers and Mattie L. Irvin, all of Jackson; a stepsister, Willie Ruth McDonald of Lorman; five grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; 18 great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives, including Ezra Charles Hedrick of Pattison.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rose Hill Christian Church with Elder Walter Chambers officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Wednesday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Thursday at the church from noon until the service.
