Laura Jean Harrell

Laura Jean Harrell died Friday, Oct. 24, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 74.
Born in Grenada, Mrs. Harrell has been a resident of Redwood for the past eight years. She was a member of the Pentecostal faith.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Edna Stone; a granddaughter, Amber Pettway; and two sisters.
Survivors include her husband, Willie Harrell; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Jimmy Melton and his wife, Maria, and Ben Foley and his wife, Renea, all of Vicksburg, and David Melton of Cookeville, Tenn.; two daughters and two sons-in-law, Lois Martin and her husband, Larry, and Sandy Pettway and her husband, Lester, all of Vicksburg; two brothers, Jessie Stone of Bruce and Clifton “Bud” Stone of Baton Rouge; three sisters, Hazel Hoover and June Davidson, both of Vicksburg, and Mary Lou Schneider of Natchez; 16 grandchildren, Steven Melton, Andrea Melton, Becky Russum, J.J. Russum, Ginger Parker, Trish Keyes, Trey Martin, Tori Martin, Alan Rymer, Matthew Pettway, Star Sellars, Crystal Pettway, Melissa Minshall, Jennifer Melton, Ashley Melton and Abigail Foley; and 38 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Talbert and the Rev. Bobby Polk officiating. Burial will follow at Bradley Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the hour of the service Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Alan Rymer, Trey Martin, Steven Melton, Matthew Pettway, J.J. Russum and R.K. Foley. Honorary pallbearers will be James Davidson, Jeffery Davidson, Herbert Stokes, Dennis Stone, Johnny Davidson and Jerry Lee Davidson Jr.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Catholic Charities or the Vicksburg-Warren Humane Society.
