Services for James Patterson will be at 1 p.m. Friday at New Mount Pilgrim M.B. Church with the Rev. Henry J. Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from noon until 7 p.m. Thursday at Lakeview Funeral Home with family present from 6 until 7 p.m. and Friday at the church from noon until the service.
Mr. Patterson died Sunday, Oct. 26, 2008, at his home. He was 67.
Mr. Patterson was a member of New Mount Pilgrim Church where he was a deacon, superintendent of the Sunday school and a Bible class teacher.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Roosevelt and Zadie Patterson; three brothers, Roosevelt “Jack” Patterson, Samuel David Patterson and Theodore Patterson; and two sisters, Emma Lee Rankin and Viola Jones.
Survivors include his wife, Connie Patterson; three daughters, Ruby Williams and Ursula Patterson, both of Vicksburg, and Cynthia Major of Chesapeake, Va.; eight sisters, Bertha Harris of Vicksburg, Annette Cruel and Carlee Harried, both of New Orleans, Azell Hutchins and Juanita Brown, both of Chicago, Roselee Fells of Gulfport, Lula Wilson of Shreveport and Shirley Green of Fayette; a brother, Bernard Rankin of New Orleans; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends including the Rev. Rudy L. Smith, Lillian Gaines and Percy Bell, all of Vicksburg.
