Ethelyn Mayfield Artis died Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2008, at Mayflower Gardens Convalescent Hospital in Lancaster, Calif. She was 98.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph David Mayfield and Willie Edna Gibson Mayfield; four brothers, Alphonso Mayfield, Jerry Arthur Mayfield, Elmo Mayfield and Joseph David Mayfield; three sisters, Vasti Mayfield, Maeonia Mayfield Nailor and Rosa Mayfield Cox.

She is survived by her son, Thomas Davis and his wife, Adeline, of Palmdale, Calif.; and one sister, Clara L. Mayfield Miller of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Hicks Mortuary in Palmdale is in charge of arrangements. Services will be at Episcopal Church of the Advent at 10 a.m. Friday.
