Hicks, Vann recite vows Sept. 13 in North Carolina

Hernando D. Hicks Jr. and Dr. Yakeika Lynette Vann were married at 4 p.m. Sept. 13, 2008, at Cornerstone M.B. Church in Greenville, N.C. The Rev. Rhonda Grant Jordan officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Elizabeth and Eugene Vann Jr. She is the granddaughter of the late Mary and Eugene Vann Sr. and the late Mamie McCoy and Bill Briggs.
The groom is the son of Richard and Hernando Hicks Sr. He is the grandson of the late Ervin and Evergrace Hicks and the late Leon and Lucille Turner.
Matron of honor was Felecia Vann-Everett, sister of the bride. Craig McKinney served as best man.
A reception followed at Rock Springs Center.
For a wedding trip, the couple traveled to Negril, Jamaica. They will make their home in Greenville, N.C.
The bride is a 1993 graduate of Wayne County High School. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in biological science from the University of Southern Mississippi, a Master of Science degree in biological science from Alcorn State University and a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College.
She is a dentist and partner at Burton and Vann Family Dental in Greenville.
The groom is a 1988 graduate of Warren Central High School. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial technology from Alcorn State University and a Master of Business Administration degree from Belhaven College.
He is senior buyer for Electrolux Corporation.
