UTICA — Kathryn McGuffee Price died Friday, Oct. 31, 2008, at the Central Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson. She was 82.

Funeral services are 10 a.m. Monday at Glenwood Funeral Home chapel in Utica, with Rev. Brad Hartzog officiating. Interment will follow at Utica Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home.

Mrs. Price was a lifelong resident of Utica. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and extremely proud grandmother who enjoyed reading the daily newspaper, working crosswords puzzles and conversing with others.

She was a retired bookkeeper who never lost her affinity for working with numbers and carefully managing the family finances. She was a member of the Utica Christian Church.

Mrs. Price was married for 63 years to Percy Cruise Price, who preceded her in death by 14 months. She was the ninth child of 10 born to Albert Wise and Eddie Pauline McGuffee, who also preceded her in death along with three brothers and five sisters.

Survivors are her son, Bo Price and his wife, Gayle, of Byram; granddaughter, Lindsay Smith and her husband, Seth, of Brandon; grandson, Everett Price of Byram; her brother, Samuel McGuffee of Springfield, Mo., and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family extends sincere thanks to those friends and family members in the Utica community who assisted and emotionally supported Kathryn during her last years at home, with special thanks to Sam Wright and Linda Cook.
