A Vicksburg man shot in the leg while walking along U.S. 80 east of the city early Saturday morning was left to drag himself out of the roadway, Warren County Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Deputies responding around 12:30 a.m. to reports of shots fired in the 2200 block of U.S. 80 found Quency Judge, 27, 1622 South St., on the shoulder, bleeding from a wound in his upper right leg, Pace said. Judge was treated and released from River Region Medical Center, a hospital spokesman said.
Recovered shell casings were from a .45-caliber handgun.
A suspect had been identified Saturday night but was not in custody, the sheriff said, though his vehicle had been located and impounded.
Investigators believe Judge was westbound on U.S. 80 about 2 miles east of the city limits when someone drove past him and fired multiple shots, hitting him once in the leg, Pace said. Judge fell into a lane of traffic, and the car drove away. He dragged himself to the side of the road.
The suspect had reportedly fought with Judge earlier Friday night about which of them would push a disabled vehicle.
Pace would not say whether anyone saw the attack.
Kings Row resident robbed on his patio
A Vicksburg man was robbed Saturday while outside on his own patio, police investigator Ken Smith said.
Police were alerted at 4:20 p.m. to the attack at the home in the 100 block of Kings Row, part of the Enchanted Hills. The man was approached by a man who drove to the home, then jumped the fence and then reached into the victim’s pocket to take the money, Smith said.
No weapon was used, and the victim was not injured.
Wreck on Confederate disrupts afternoon traffic
A two-vehicle wreck at Confederate Avenue and Marcus Street disrupted traffic Saturday afternoon but left no one injured, Vicksburg police Sgt. Beverly Prentiss said.
A 1998 Dodge Stratus driven by Justin A. Jones, 26, 1258 Ad Drive, Raymond, and a 2005 Honda Civic driven by Patricia S. Chocolate, 58, 1520 Ethel St., collided at about 4 p.m. as Chocolate attempted to turn left from Marcus onto Confederate and her car collided with Jones’, Prentiss said.
No citations were issued, Prentiss said.
