Norman James Smith Jr. died Saturday, Nov. 8, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. He was 79.

Mr. Smith was a member of Church of Christ.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Smith; his parents, Norman James Smith Sr. and Regina Collins England; a son, James Henry Smith; four sisters; and one brother.

Survivors include a son, Norman James Smith III of Vicksburg; two daughters, Kathryn Smith Thibodeaux of Houston and Patsy Smith Dean of Creve, Mo.; a sister, Dorothy Warren of Vicksburg; three brothers, Willie England of Jackson, Alonzo England of Vicksburg and Johnny England of San Diego; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild; and numerous relatives and friends.
