Three people arrested in Warren County Monday were charged with various crimes related to methamphetamine and the manufacture of the drug.

Linda Cole, 44, and William Smith Jr., 45, both of 100 Chance Lane, were arrested just after 4 p.m. and charged with possession of precursor chemicals for the manufacture of crystal methamphetamine, Sheriff Martin Pace said this morning. They were being held on $10,000 bond each this morning at the Warren County Jail.

About two hours later, Christopher Kirkland, 38, 3518 Duke Road, Utica, was arrested at the same address and charged with possession of methamphetamine after he happened to drive up at the home, Pace said. Kirkland was released Monday night on $1,500 bond.

Pace said that the arrests of Cole and Smith were the result of an investigation by the sheriff’s office and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. Kirkland happened to drive up to the residence while investigators and agents were there, and crystal methamphetamine was found in his possession, Pace said.

Cole had been followed Monday afternoon by agents and investigators as she went to several Vicksburg-area merchants and made purchases of precursor chemicals necessary for the manufacture of crystal meth, Pace said. She was stopped and arrested by sheriff’s officers while driving on Nailor Road. Investigators then went to the home, where they found additional items related to the drug’s manufacture and arrested Smith.

Chance Lane is off Poole Road, where three men were burned in September in what Pace called “a methamphetamine cooking that went bad.”

Another woman was arrested at a Poole Road residence in October and charged with possession of precursers and methamphetamine.

In addition, two Cherry Street residents were arrested in October when a meth manufacturing operation was found in their home.
