RUTH, Miss. — Lester C. Holt Jr. died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, at his home. He was 57.

Mr. Holt was born Jan. 23, 1951, in Attala County. He was retired from the Army Corps of Engineers after 31 years of service and was a member of New Hope Baptist Church in Monticello. He was an avid sportsman and a member of Panola Hunting Club.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Sybil Cook Holt; and grandparents.

Survivors include his father, Lester C. Holt, and stepmother, Polly O’Keefe Holt, of Ridgeland; a son, Christopher Aaron Holt of Vicksburg; a daughter, Brandi Renee Chalk and her husband, Brad, of Byram; a sister, Sherri H. Kyzar and her husband, Glenn, of Ruth; two nephews, Justin H. Kyzar of Ruth and Jason G. Kyzar and his wife, Jessica, of Brookhaven; a great-niece, Kaitlyn, of Brookhaven; and his beloved canines, Roo, Rowdy and Roxie.

Services will be at noon on Saturday at Riverwood Family Funeral Service in Brookhaven. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
