The exit ramp to Halls Ferry Road for westbound traffic on Interstate 20 is scheduled to be closed Wednesday from 8 a.m. until 3 p.m.

A Mississippi Department of Transportation alert said a crew at the exit, No. 1-C, will be working on signs.

Westbound traffic may use exits at Indiana Avenue or Washington Street and frontage roads to reach locations normally reached via the Halls Ferry exit.

District 3 Engineer Kevin Magee said this morning the work is part of scheduled maintenance for overhead signs in the area.

‘Great Russian Nutcracker’ performance here canceled

The Moscow Ballet’s “Great Russian Nutcracker” performance, scheduled for Dec. 29 at the Vicksburg Auditorium, has been canceled because of scheduling problems on the ballet’s end, Vicksburg Convention Center and Auditorium marketing and events coordinator Erin Powell said.

“There were some routing problems and some technical problems they couldn’t make work,” said Powell. “All those who’d purchased tickets have been refunded.”

Three simultaneous tours will bring the “Great Russian Nutcracker” to more than 70 cities in the United States through the end of the year. 

The performances closest to Vicksburg will now be in Memphis Dec. 7 and in Birmingham, Ala., Dec. 28. For tickets, click here.
