Supervisors approved advertising for the position to fill the vacancy, which is effective Wednesday.

Also, supervisors accepted the resignation of Nelda Sampey from the Vicksburg Convention and Visitors Bureau. Already accepted by the city, the resignation leaves open the appointment to be made jointly by Vicksburg and Warren County.

* Approved an $82,800 payment on a 2003 general obligation bond on a refinance of Warren County service annex near the courthouse.

* Rejected two bids taken this month from Stribling Equipment and Puckett Machinery on a crawler excavator. Supervisors acted on the recommendation of Purchasing Agent Tonga Vinson, who said the bids, $154,744 and $159,032, respectively, were 16 percent higher than when similar equipment was purchased in 2004.

Instead, the county will refinance a current excavator on a 36-month, lease-purchase arrangement.

* Accepted a low bid of $277,414.26 by APAC Mississippi for resurfacing portions of Tucker Road. The bid was kept despite its being 24 percent over county engineers’ estimate. The project will be paid using state transportation funds from the Office of State Aid Road Construction.

* Accepted the final plat on Littlewood subdivision.

* Approved the final order on the Spouts Springs bridge repair project.

* Approved nine reductions on real estate property totaling $18,419.

* Approved the final order granting a tax exemption to Simpson Dura Vent.

* Approved term contracts at previous rates for lawn service, herbicide spraying, road department uniform rental, road signs and sand and gravel services. Advertising was authorized for those on various other supplies and materials where the terms could not remain the same.
