Mrs. Jessie Mae Moses died Monday, Nov. 17, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 75.
She owned and operated a family store with her late husband, Moses Moses.
Jessie Mae Moses, the youngest of eight children, was a devoted wife and a loving and giving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was also a friend to all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Jessie Mae was a great cook who loved being in her kitchen with her trusty cast-iron skillet, preparing meals for her family and anyone else who might walk through her front door. She never turned anyone away who was in need of a hot meal, a place to stay or just someone to talk to, as Jessie Mae never met a stranger. She was a great talker and avid storyteller who, up until the end, was sharing stories about her great-great-grandfather and grandfather and, of course, filling those in her presence with laughter.
Jessie Mae was an avid reader and stayed awake many nights to finish a novel only so that she could begin a new one with a new day dawning. In her free time, when she wasn’t taking care of someone else or cooking, she would make her way to her favorite $2 Haywire slot machine, where she would spend hours entertaining herself.
Jessie Mae was a grand woman! She will be missed. May you rest in peace, Jessie Mae.
Mrs. Moses is survived by a daughter, Trudy Moses of Ardsley-On-Hudson, N.Y.; a sister, Blanche Christian of Ellisville, Miss.; two grandchildren, Scott Moses and Story Moses; and three great-grandchildren, Chloe Moses, Maya Moses and Austin Moses, all of Vicksburg.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home Chapel with the Very Rev. John Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight with Trisagion prayers at 6:45 p.m.
