3 held on charges from false banking information

Three Vicksburg residents were in custody this morning after using illegally obtained bank information to finance a shopping spree, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said today.

Darquila McDaniel, 24, 780 U.S. 61 North, Apt. 8D, and Laken Magee, 23, of the same address, were charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and false pretense. They were arrested Wednesday at 3:23 p.m. at their residence after a lengthy investigation, Stewart said.

As a result of their arrest, police also arrested Laron Evans, 23, 1214 W. Magnolia St., on the same charges.

Under a search warrant, police recovered from the residence a number of items including dolls, toys and liquor. The items had been purchased online, by phone, and in person at stores using false banking information.

All three are being held in Issaquena County Jail on no bond, Stewart said, because the investigation is continuing and more charges may be filed. Their initial appearance in Warren County Court will be Friday.

Cash, guns, computer stolen in Vicksburg

Guns, cash and a computer were reported stolen in two residential burglaries in the city Wednesday, Vicksburg police Lt. Bobby Stewart said.

At 5:05 p.m. in the 2700 block of Drummond Street, a 9-mm pistol valued at $180 and $62 were reported stolen. Entry was gained through the back door, Stewart said.

At 5:45 p.m. in the 2600 block of Oak Street, a .25-caliber pistol valued at $125, a Compaq computer valued at $800 and a PlayStation PSP portable game system valued at $300 were reported stolen. It was not known how entry was made into the residence.

Cary man jailed for drug court sanction

A Cary man was in the Warren County Jail this morning after being arrested Wednesday at 2:05 p.m. by deputies, jail records said.

Nichols Sanders, 27, no street address given, was charged with a drug court sanction.

Fire destroys barn on Warriors Trail

A barn fire on Warriors Trail in Bovina early this morning destroyed the structure, Bovina Volunteer Fire Department Chief Ken Whittington said. The fire was reported around 2 a.m. Two fire trucks from the Bovina Volunteer Fire Department and one from Culkin responded.

Crews fought the fire for about an hour and a half, Whittington said. It was not apparent what caused the fire. No injuries were reported and no other structures were involved in the blaze.
