CHICAGO — Fred Denton died Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008, in Chicago. He was 71. 

Mr. Denton was a native of Vicksburg and resident of Chicago for more than 50 years. He retired from Chicago Northwestern Railroad.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Earline Denton.

Survivors include five children, Frederick Denton, Karen Denton, Paul Denton, Nancy Denton and Keith Denton; two brothers, Oscar Denton and Harry Denton of Vicksburg; one sister, Pamela Shaw of Jackson; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

Services were at 11 a.m. today in Chicago. Burial followed at Abraham Lincoln Cemetery under the direction of Leak and Sons Funeral Home.
