FAYETTE — Ben Reed Jr. died Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, at his residence in Fayette. He was 84.

Mr. Reed was a veteran of the Army and retired as a welder from LeTourneau in Vicksburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ben Reed Sr. and Addie Carroll Reed; two brothers; and three sisters.

He is survived by four sons, Robert Reed, Calvin Reed, Glen Reed and Ben Reed III, all of Fayette; three daughters, Shirley Williams and Rachel Reed, both of Fayette, and Catherine Clark of Port Gibson; one brother, Roger Reed of Baton Rouge; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Hollywood M.B. Church in Fayette with the Rev. E. Colenberg officiating. Burial will follow at the Natchez Military Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 today at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
