A search for methamphetamine in a Redwood residence Wednesday netted unexpected results as Warren County deputies found evidence of recent crystal meth cooking as well as precursor chemicals and a convicted felon in possession of a high-powered rifle.

Corey Maples, 32, 998 Redwood Road, was arrested after a 10 a.m. search of his home, said Sheriff Martin Pace. Maples has been charged with possession of methamphetamine, manufacturing methamphetamine, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm and being in possession of two or more precursors for the manufacture of methamphetamine.

The weapon, a Marlin .17-caliber rifle mounted with a scope, was loaded and “ready for firing,” Pace said. It was found in near the door.

Nearby were two homemade silencers for the weapon, which may result in federal charges being filed today against Maples by the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, investigator Chris Satcher said.

A second resident, Anna Chasity Truelove, 27, was not home during the search but turned herself in at 2 p.m. She has been charged with manufacturing meth, possession of meth and possession of precursor chemicals.

Satcher said the department received information that meth was being produced at the residence and a search warrant was obtained.

Investigators found individual packages of crystal meth, apparently ready for sale, as well as containers and other items indicating the drug had been manufactured in the last 24 hours, Pace said.

Deputies contacted the Drug Enforcement Agency, which sent a crew to remove the chemicals.

Maples and Truelove were in the Warren County Jail this morning pending their initial hearings.

If convicted, Maples faces more than 100 years in prison on the four charges, Satcher said.
