Marcus Bradley McBride and Mindy Michelle Shinn were married at 2 p.m. Oct. 25, 2008, at Highland Baptist Church. The Rev. Brian Ivey officiated at the double-ring ceremony.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Billy Shinn of Vicksburg. She is the granddaughter of Jess Morrell Ross of Greenwood and Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Shinn of Meridian.
The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve McBride of Brookhaven. He is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Moore and Mr. and Mrs. L.J. McBride, all of Brookhaven.
Two large Ms adorned with greenery and baby’s breath were presented on the front doors at the church’s entrance. Pews were marked with tulle accented by brown hypericum berries and miniature flame calla lilies. Hurricane lamps surrounded by miniature white roses illuminated the windows. A pair of brown, wrought-iron stands held a trio of pillar candles cradled in massive arrangements of snapdragons, light-orange roses, white gladioli, white lilies, fuji mums and white gerbera daisies with chocolate centers. The baptistery held a collection of white candles, berries and greenery. A monogrammed candle was used at the unity stand.
Prelude selections were presented by Liz Gullett, pianist. Grandmothers were seated to “The Wedding Song,” and the mothers were seated to “There Is Love,” both selections by the O’Neill Brothers. The attendants entered to Twyla Paris’ “How Beautiful,” followed by the bride’s entrance to “The Wedding March.” “Grow Old with Me” by Mary Chapin Carpenter was selected for the lighting of the unity candle. The recessional was James Taylor’s “How Sweet it Is.”
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a majestic gown of white satin created with a halter-style top featuring hand-beaded sequins and crystals. The A-line skirt, pleated in front and back, was lined along the folds and edges with beads and crystals. Satin-covered buttons cascaded the back to the full skirt, which fell into a chapel train.
She wore a pearl bracelet, a gift from the groom, and her mother’s pearl earrings.

A reception followed in the fellowship hall of the church. The registry table was placed inside the entrance, which was flanked with orange potted mums displayed on wrought-iron stands.
Peace lilies, ferns, palms, lighted ficus and lamps were scattered throughout the room.
A raised platform held the three-tiered wedding cake, which was a round, buttercream confection accented with white swirls and brown ribbon at each layer. The cake, displayed on a silver plateau, was topped with a brushed-silver M anchored by small, white roses and berries. Servers were Robin Herrington of Vicksburg and Melanie Herrington of Hattiesburg.
The groom’s two-tiered cake, displayed on a silver plateau, was a chocolate-tuxedo design. Chocolate-dipped strawberries accented the cake, which was presented on a table with a fall arrangement and autumn-colored M&Ms. Serving the confection were the groom’s aunts: Phyllis Wallace and Cathy Moore, both of Brookhaven, and Marilyn Easley of Cedar Bluff, Miss.
