Charles Edward Butler Sr.

Services for Charles Edward Butler Sr. will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Family Life Cathedral with Pastor Dennis Redden officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Clinton. Visitation will be from 6 until 7 p.m. Friday at Mount Pisgah M.B. Church.

Mr. Butler died Sunday, Dec. 7, 2008, at Promise Specialty Hospital. He was 75.

A longtime resident of Vicksburg, Mr. Butler retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. He was a member of Mount Pisgah M.B. Church, St. Paul Masonic Lodge and American Legion Tyner-Ford Post 213.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys N. Butler; his father, Ruben Chapman; and his mother and stepfather, Margarette Butler Phillips.

He is survived by two sons, Charles E. Butler Jr. and David Butler, both of Vicksburg; four daughters, Charmane L. Buie, Lydia B. Claiborne, Margarette Y. Butler and LaDwan Butler, all of Vicksburg; 12 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and other relatives, including Loudessia Chapman.
