Betty Jeane Worthy

Betty Jeane Worthy died Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008, at River Region Medical Center. She was 75.

A longtime resident of Vicksburg, Mrs. Worthy was the daughter of the late Rev. Dewey Forbes and Lena Mae Miller Forbes. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Acacia Chapter 56, and she was a member of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her husband, Louis R. Worthy Sr.; three daughters, Reva Beatrice Stephens of Dayton, Texas, Lena Rae Houston of Minden, La., and Linda Sue Houston of Vicksburg; one son, Louis R. Worthy Jr. of Vicksburg; a brother, Robert Dewey Forbes of Jackson; three sisters, Pat Perrette and Quida Mae McNeil, both of Jackson, and Peggy McMullen of Bay Springs; and nine grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Riles Funeral Home chapel with Dr. Frank Lescallette officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be R. D. Forbes, Tommy McNeil, Johnny Phillips, Butch Phillips, Kelly Worthy, Glen Worthy and Terry Gill.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dean Sprouse, David Miller, Jerry McCarthy, Henry Stevens, Cowayne Townsend and employees of the Mat Sinking Unit.
