Six arrested for meth make first appearances in court

Six Warren County residents arrested on methamphetamine charges in two incidents last week had their initial court appearances before Justice Court Judge Richard Bradford III Monday afternoon.

Linda Cole, 44, and William D. Smith, 45, were arrested at the home they share at 100 Chance Lane Thursday and were charged with possession of a precursor and manufacture of a controlled substance. Both were out on bond from a Nov. 10 arrest in which police charged them with possessing precursors. Bradford set bond at $20,000 each, but said it was likely District Attorney Ricky Smith would request they be restricted from bonding out as they were arrested while out on a previous bond.

Heather Smith, 38, 2419 Drummond St. and Richard G. Daumer, 30, 114 Bering St., were also arrested at the Chance Lane home Thursday. Heather Smith — who is not believed to be related to William Smith — faces charges of possessing a controlled substance, possessing a precursor and manufacture of a controlled substance. Her bond was set at $30,000. Daumer was charged with possession of a precursor and manufacture of a controlled substance and had his bond set at $20,000.

Additionally, Bradford set bond at $20,000 for Bruce Lewis, 48, and Kim Whatley, 45, both of 251 Whatley Hollow Road, stemming from their Friday arrest for possession of a precursor and manufacture of a controlled substance.

None of the six had posted bond this morning. Their cases may be heard by the next grand jury, which convenes on Jan. 26. At least seven meth-related cases have led to arrests or injuries in Vicksburg and the county since September.
