Jim and Linda Martin of Vicksburg announce the engagement of their daughter, Amy Suzanne Atkins, to Jay Lee Hodges. Mr. Hodges is the son of Patsy Hodges and the late Wesley Hodges.

Miss Atkins is the granddaughter of Thomas and Ann Oakes of Redwood and Sue Flathau and the late Parker Atkins Sr. of Vicksburg.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Vicksburg High School, where she was a cheerleader and a member of the band. She received a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Delta State University, where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority.

Miss Atkins is a fifth-grade teacher at Vicksburg Intermediate School.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Warren Central High School, where he was a member of the Honor Choir and soccer team.

He attended the University of Louisiana at Monroe and Hinds Community College.

Mr. Hodges is employed at Ergon.

The wedding will be at 5 p.m. March 14, 2009, at Hawkins United Methodist Church. A reception will follow. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.
