PORT GIBSON — Elizabeth Woods died Monday, Dec. 29, 2008, at Claiborne County Senior Care Center in Port Gibson. She was 87.

Mrs. Woods was a member and mother at Watson A.M.E. Church, where she was in the choir. She was a member of the Martha Reed and Katie Taylor Missionary Society.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe E. and Georgia Liggans Reed; her husband, Bobby Woods Sr.; a son, Bobby Woods Jr.; one sister, Bessie Reed; four brothers, John Reed, Lawrence Reed, A.D. Reed and Alfred Reed.

She is survived by a son, Harold Woods of Port Gibson; a daughter, Dorothy Brooks of Port Gibson; two brothers, Percy Reed of Port Gibson and Joe Davis Reed of New Orleans; a sister, Georgia Esmond of Port Gibson; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, friends and other relatives.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness in Port Gibson with Roderick Allen officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home of Port Gibson. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and Thursday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
