Jimmy D. Tarver

Jimmy D. Tarver died Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, in Enterprise. He was 62.

A native of Mangham, La., Mr. Tarver lived in Vicksburg for 45 years before moving to Enterprise last year. He attended Hinds Community College.

He worked for the Vicksburg Fire Department and retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers after 25 years of service. He was a veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the 11th Armored Calvary Unit from 1968 until 1970.

He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Frank Tarver.

Survivors include his wife, Sheila Marie Tarver; his son, Shannon Tarver of Enterprise; two daughters, Mary (Chance) Mosley and Charlotte (Clint) Snider, all of Enterprise; his mother, Laura Edna Tarver of Delta, La.; a sister, Evelyn Tarver McDonald of Monroe, La.; two brothers, Billy Joe (Teresa) Tarver of Vicksburg and Edward (Vickie) Tarver of Columbus; and eight grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Jay Sims officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Wednesday until the service.

Pallbearers will be Danny Sanderford, Joseph Tarver, Jimmy Mullen, Chance Mosley, Michael Sanderford, Earl Wallace and Robert Burton.
