The Game Night Extravaganza will be from 4 until 6 p.m. on Jan. 13 at the Warren County-Vicksburg Public Library on Veto Street. Admission is free. For information, call 601-630-4103.

The event will run from 4 until 6 p.m. and will feature traditional board games such as Pictionary and Scrabble, as well as video games, including Nintendo Wii’s Guitar Hero and some of the game console’s sports offerings.

The Game Night Extravaganza is YAC’s service project for the year. The council is made up of about 14 sixth- through 12th-grade students who have been recommended by teachers and principals as members.

YAC members decided to host a game night to show that the library offers more than books and Internet services, said Jennifer A. Smith, assistant director of the library, in an announcement.

This isn’t the first game night hosted by the library, she said.

“We did one two years ago and just did board games and that was fun,” Smith said, “but we haven’t done one since. We’re going to try it out, and maybe we’ll do more.”

The Game Night Extravaganza is free, and families are encouraged to participate.
