Harvey N. Pippen

TALLULAH — Harvey N. Pippen died Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2009, at the Olive Branch Senior Care Center in Tallulah. He was 95.

Born in Bassfield, Miss., Mr. Pippen had lived in the Tallulah area for a number of years. He was a farmer and a member of Sondheimer Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Elizabeth Pippen of Tallulah; three sons, Charles Michael Pippen and Wesley D. Pippen, both of Tallulah, and Harvey James Pippen of Longview, Texas; one daughter, Clara Jean Nesbit of Jackson; one stepdaughter, Faye Launa Martin of Delhi; a sister, Johnnie Lou Grossman of Brandon; and nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Tallulah with the Revs. John W. Rushing and Pat Lofton officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight in the fellowship hall of the church.

Pallbearers will be George Glass, George Shepherd, William Marsh, Jimmy Marsh, Boobie Powers and Bump Lee.

Honorary pallbearers will be “Put” Martin, John Ulmer, Paul Marsh, Ben Brownstein, Bobby Joe Lee, Tom Gilbert and eight grandchildren.
