PELL CITY, Ala.  — Bessie Mae Phillips West died Monday, Jan. 12, 2009. She was 76.

Mrs. West was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Provine West Jr.; a grandson, Nicholas Alexander Hennessy; and her parents, Robert Thomas and Willie Mae Phillips. She graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Science in 1953 and Master of Arts in 1957. She was a member of Sigma Sigma Sigma Sorority and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include a son, Robert Provine West III; a daughter, Patricia West Hennessy; and two grandchildren, Jonathan Robert Hennessy and Katherine West.

A private service will be at St. Simon Peter Episcopal Church in Pell City with the Rev. Jeff Garner officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery in Vicksburg. Kilgroe Funeral Home in Pell City will be in charge.
