An Eagle Lake man described by family members as a respected carpenter and craftsman died Wednesday in a single-vehicle crash along Mississippi 465.

John P. Page Sr., 45, 86 Pine Tree Lane, was westbound in a Chevrolet Silverado when he overcorrected after losing control of the pickup, Mississippi Highway Safety Patrolman Kerwyn Stewart said.

Page was ejected from the driver’s seat and the truck lay on its side about 50 yards from the road’s shoulder.

Page died at the scene from head and chest injures, Warren County Coroner Doug Huskey said.

Page, self-employed, was the youngest of five brothers and had two sons, John Jr. and Keith, and a daughter, Candi.

“He was well-respected,” Candi Page said. “He did a lot of work in Vicksburg that people called him all the time for.”

Glenwood Funeral Home will have charge of arrangements.

The wreck is the first in Warren County to result in a fatality in 2009. Eleven were reported in 2008, with eight occurring outside Vicksburg corporate limits.
