National Signing Day activities

National Signing Day is Wednesday, Feb. 4. Schools around the state will be hosting signing day events on Wednesday around the state.

MISSISSIPPI STATE

2 p.m. gathering in the Griffis Boardroom on the Mississippi State campus. Fans will be admitted at no charge, and food will be provided by the Bulldog Deli. Coach Mullen will speak to the crowd at approximately 2:30 p.m.

Three evening events will take place around the state. Assistant coaches Tony Hughes, Les Koenning and Reed Stringer will travel to Meridian for an event at The Chili House. Assistants Rockey Felker and Mark Hudspeth will speak at an event at Romie’s Grocery in Tupelo, and Mullen and director of athletics Greg Byrne will attend an event in the Forestry Auditorium at the Mississippi Agriculture and Forestry Museum in Jackson.

The Meridian event will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a program starting at 6 p.m. There will be an admission charge of $5.

In Tupelo, doors open at 5 p.m. with heavy hors d’oeuvres being served. Admission cost $15, and speakers will begin at 6 p.m.

The Jackson gathering, sponsored by Eutaw Construction, will cost fans $10 and doors will open at 6 p.m. with heavy hors d’oeuvres. Coach Mullen and Byrne will begin the program at 6:30 p.m.

SOUTHERN MISS

The 2nd annual Southern Miss Signing Day Social will be held, Wednesday, Feb. 4, from 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m., at the Lake Terrace Convention Center.

Fans that cannot come to the Lake Terrace Convention Center for next week’s Southern Miss Signing Day Social can catch the live stream feed for free via SouthernMiss.com.

The event begins with a social hour from 5:30-6:30 p.m., with the entire football coaching staff along with select players who will be available for autographs. A program then will follow which includes Fedora and the assistant coaches speaking about this year’s recruiting class.

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for youth (12 and under) in advance of the event and $15 for adults and $5 for youth (12 and under) at the door.

OLE MISS

Ole Miss fans can receive up-to-the-minute updates of the Rebels’ 2009 football signing class with bios, video highlights and the coaches’ press conference Wednesday on OleMissSports.com’s Signing Day Central Presented By Cellular South.

As future Rebels are inked throughout National Signing Day, OleMissSports.com will instantly post the signees’ names with a complete bio and exclusive video footage through RebelVision. Also available for subscribers, head coach Houston Nutt’s press conference will be streamed live at 2 p.m. CT along with full coverage of the Ole Miss Quarterback Club signing day party, which begins at 9 a.m. in the South End Zone of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium.

Admission to the Quarterback Club party is $25. Signees and future prospective student-athletes and their families are not permitted to attend. Although the event is not hosted by the Ole Miss athletics department, all proceeds will go to support the Rebel football program.

Those attending should park at the MDOT parking lot off Old Taylor Road, where shuttle service will be transporting fans to the South End Zone beginning at 8:30 a.m. The Ole Miss football offices and the IPF parking lot will be closed to the public on signing day.
