City man arrested for assault

A Vicksburg man was in Warren County Jail Wednesday accused of assaulting his wife.

Gary L. Thomas, 37, 3212 Second St., was arrested at the Vicksburg Police Department at 11:50 a.m. after facing initial misdemeanor charges, said Lt. Bobby Stewart.

The charge was upgraded to domestic aggravated assault due to the seriousness of his wife’s injuries, Stewart said.

His wife, Teffee Thomas, 29, was transferred from River Region Medical Center to a hospital that spokesman Allen Karel declined to identify.

Thomas was out on a $10,000 bond.

Alabama man jailed for drugs at motel

An Alabama man was arrested at a Vicksburg motel on drug charges.

Anthony Shelnutt, 26, 7314 County Road 83, Lafayette, was arrested at 4:23 p.m. Wednesday at the Scottish Inn, 3955 Clay St.

The arrest stemmed from complaints of drug activity, said Vicksburg Police Lt. Bobby Stewart.

Shelnutt was charged with sale and possession of schedule 4 narcotics, said Stewart.

He was held at Issaquena County Jail on a $7,500 bond.

County man held on probation violation

A Vicksburg man was in Warren County Jail this morning for violating his probation.

Christopher Smith, 31, 250 Chickasaw Road, was arrested 12:45 p.m. Wednesday. No other information was available.

Cash reported missing in Crawford burglary

A residential burglary was reported at 6:55 p.m. in the 1200 block of Crawford Street, Vicksburg police said.

Cash totaling $100 was stolen.
