5 sentenced in Warren County Circuit Court|Court report

In Warren County Circuit Court:

* Dewayne Lee Evans, 29, 1314 Crawford St., pleaded guilty to fleeing or eluding a law enforcement officer and was sentenced to two years in prison, followed by five years of probation, and fined $1,822.50, by Judge Isadore Patrick Feb.5. Evans was arrested July 4.

* Martin A. Jackson, 28, 605 Cain Ridge Road, No. 2, was found guilty of violating probation and sentenced to six years in prison by Judge Frank Vollor Feb. 3. Jackson was arrested Feb. 4, 2004, for possession of cocaine.

* Lester L. Miller, 19, 1623 Martin Luther King Blvd., pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property. He was enrolled in the Drug Court Program for a period not to exceed five years, and fined $1,822.50, Feb. 5 by Patrick. Miller was arrested Aug. 7.

* Gary Nevels, 48, 2500 Old Highway 27, pleaded guilty to DUI third offense and was sentenced Tuesday by Vollor to two years in prison followed by five years of probation, and fined $2,355.50. While on probation he must also attend Alcoholics Anonymous meetings as directed by his probation officer. Nevels was arrested April 26, 2007.

* Joseph G. Wells, 23, address unknown, was found guilty of violating probation and was sentenced Feb. 3 by Vollor to five years in prison. Wells was arrested March 26, 2007.

In Issaquena County Circuit Court:

* Kevin Goff, 29, address unknown, pleaded guilty to possession of contraband in a correctional facility and was sentenced Monday by Patrick to one year in prison followed by two years of probation, and fined $322.50, from a June 15 offense.

* Rob Penson, 25, 977 Greenfield Road, Glen Allen, pleaded guilty to aggravated assault-domestic violence and was sentenced Monday by Patrick to five years of probation, and fined $1,322.50. Penson, who was arrested Nov. 20, must also forfeit his .20-gauge shotgun to the Issaquena County Sheriff’s Department.

* Shaun Williams, 24, 738 W. Union St., Greenville, pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and was sentenced Monday by Patrick to five years in prison followed by five years of probation, and fined $322.50. Williams was arrested in July.

In Sharkey County Circuit Court:

* Dorothy C. Touchberry, 22, 108 Camden, pleaded guilty to burglary of a dwelling and was enrolled Monday by Patrick in the Drug Court Program for a period not to exceed five years, and fined $1.322.50. Touchberry was arrested Nov. 19, 2006.

* Kenneth Miles, 32, 87 Mulberry St., Rolling Fork, was found guilty of violating probation and was sentenced Tuesday by Vollor to three years in prison. Miles was originally sentenced Feb. 19 for possession of marijuana.

* Steven K. Heigle, 26, 58 Athletic Drive, Rolling Fork, pleaded guilty to two separate arrests for DUI third offense, Oct. 7 and Oct. 25. He was enrolled Monday by Patrick to five years in the Drug Court Program and fined $3,211.00.
