Five Vicksburg lifters win division titles

It was a great day for Vicksburg’s powerlifting team at the Division 3-4A meet in Pearl on Friday, as the Gators just missed a division title by five measly points to the host team.

Vicksburg finished second with 55 points to Pearl’s 60 as five Gators earned first place honors.

In the 181-pound class, Jeremy Hamlin was one of several school record-breakers, as he lifted a total of 1,475 pounds on the day for first place in his class.

Marcus Allen won first in the 198-pound class, with a total of 1,255 points.

Kalum Martin, in the 308-pound class, lifted 1,510 pounds for first place. Jarvis Holmes won the super-heavyweight division with a total lift of 1,180 pounds.  Next for the Gators will be the North State meet in early March, which will be held at Itawamba AHS in Fulton.
