Bernice T. Kuhnert

Bernice T. Kuhnert, died Friday, Feb. 13, 2009. She was 85.

Born in Vicksburg, she was the daughter of the late James Wesley Taylor and Myrlee Kirkley Taylor. Mrs. Kuhnert was a graduate of Jett High School and received her associate degree in nursing from Hinds Junior College. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in nursing from the University of Southern Mississippi in 1983. Mrs. Kuhnert was a registered nurse with Vicksburg Hospital, Mercy Hospital and ParkView Regional Medical Center, serving in supervisory positions until her retirement in 1993. She was a member of local, state and national nursing organizations. Mrs. Kuhnert was a faithful and active member of  Bowmar Baptist Church, where she was devoted to the Infant and Children’s Ministries of the church.

She is survived by her daughter, Dr. Gail K. Farrar and her husband, Paul, of Pass Christian; and three sons, Earl Kuhnert and his wife, Lois, of Vicksburg, James Kuhnert and his wife, Beth, of Little Rock, Ark., and Alfred Kuhnert of Madison; five grandchildren, Sarah Yates, Nathan Kuhnert, Rebecca Farrar, Emily Farrar and Felicia Corsbie; one great-grandson, Kaden Corsbie; three brothers, Lawrence Taylor Sr. and his wife, Zula, of Pearl, and John Taylor and his wife, Melba, and Charles Taylor and his wife, Martha, all of Vicksburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gustav “Gus” Kuhnert; her sister, Rosalie T. Murray; and a granddaughter,  Lori Kuhnert.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Terry White, pastor of Bowmar Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Green Acres Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Monday until the service. Memorials may be made to Bowmar Baptist Church, 1825 Highway 61 South, Vicksburg, MS 39180.

Pallbearers will be Joe McCormick, Sam Porter, Adam Logue, Dr. Jim Dozier, James Taylor and Nathan Kuhnert.
