Mrs. Flora Lee Jones, 78, died Feb. 15 following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Port Gibson United Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Wintergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 until 7 tonight at Glenwood Funeral Home in Port Gibson and from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the hour of the service at the church.
Mrs. Jones was the youngest daughter of the late Samuel and Minnie Cleveland of Port Gibson. She was a lifelong resident of Port Gibson, having moved to Clinton and then Brandon in the last 10 years to be near her daughters. She was a graduate of Port Gibson High School and held various secretarial jobs throughout her life.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband of 31 years, John Martin Jones; her brothers, David, Earl, Johnnie and Lawrence Cleveland; and her sister, Neva Nevels.
Survivors include her daughters, Vicky Bowen (Jerry) of Clinton and Lea Ann Coxwell (Mel) of Brandon; her brother, Burnice Cleveland (Carolyn) of Port Gibson; and five grandchildren: Jason and Andrea Bowen of Clinton and Claire, Katie and John Coxwell of Brandon.
Flora Lee was a wonderful mother and devoted grandmother who was dearly loved and will be greatly missed. Her commonsense approach to life and sense of humor was a blessing to everyone she knew. Generosity was her trademark, always leaving behind much more than she ever took.
Thanks to Brandon Court and Pax Hospice for their compassionate care over these last few months.
Memorials may be made to the Port Gibson United Methodist Church or Wintergreen Cemetery.
