The 51st annual Ebony Fashion Fair will be at 8 p.m. Monday at Vicksburg Auditorium. Tickets are $30 at the door or in advance and are available at Mayes Elegant Styles and Braids, 1023 Walnut St., and Clay’s Hair Styling Salon, 2901 Washington St. Call 601-636-7674.

“I’m hoping for 500 or more people this year,” said Hilda White, the club’s publicity and ticket chairman.

The Ebony magazine biannual traveling show of the nation’s top designers is a collaboration with the club. Tickets are $30 and include a one-year subscription to Ebony or six-month subscription to its counterpart, Jet.

Proceeds will go to a scholarship fund, set up biannually by the members of the Elite Civic Club for Vicksburg and Warren Central high school seniors. A student can apply for the funds through a school’s guidance counselor.

Of the applicants, three or four are chosen based on an essay, ACT and academic scores, honors and achievements and teacher evaluations. Students must also note which colleges they will attend. The deadline to submit an application to the school guidance counselor is April 15.

In 2007, during the last scholarship event, the Elite Civic Club awarded three Vicksburg students with $1,500 each. The show will feature professional models. This year’s theme is What’s Hip, What’s Hot, What’s Now.
