On behalf of the Vicksburg Theatre Guild board of directors, I would like to thank the director, Jeff Hensley, and the cast and crew of “Searching for Eden: The Diaries of Adam and Eve” for a great opening weekend Feb. 12-15 and another spectacular weekend of shows Feb. 21-22.

VTG is a volunteer organization and we appreciate all the time and effort everyone put in, specifically Wesley Johnson, Leslie Milton, Amy Melton, David Johnson, Nick Becker, Eddie Melton, Jason Fairchild, Stephen Hensley, Kimberly Melton, Janet Birch, Nicole Birch, Jack Burns, Jeanine Hensley, Jodie Johnson, Mike Calnan and the VTG Youth Group.

With your support and dedication, VTG will continue to produce quality shows for the whole family.

Sidewalks a big help

I would like to take the opportunity to commend the Mayor and Aldermen for the decision to install sidewalks from the four new hotels down to Cracker Barrel, Jameson Inn and the Outlets at Vicksburg. The sidewalks provide a safe walk area between the businesses and are being used regularly by hotel guests.  

The major investments made by the owners of these hotels continue to display confidence in our community, our leadership and our economy. This administration recognizes the importance of providing economic development partnerships with the private sector. This is the catalyst for growth in any community.

Luncheon took teamwork

I would like to say thank you to the members of Crawford Street United Methodist Church for the use of their facility where we held the Red Beans and Rice Luncheon. Thanks to Bess Averett and the Ameristar Cares volunteers, American Red Cross staff, board members and volunteers for helping serve and deliver meals.

Special thanks to the chest at Ameristar for preparing such a delicious meal, Rainbow Casino for donating the dessert, Riverwalk Casino for donating the cole slaw and Foam Packaging for their donations.

Proceeds from this even will benefit Red Cross community programs.
