The engagement of Freda Renez Hollie of Crystal Springs to Julius Dwayne Porter Sr. of Port Gibson is announced today. The wedding will be at 3 p.m. April 18, 2009, at Awesome Christ Warriors Outreach Tabernacle in Port Gibson. A reception will follow at Big D’s Westside Theater. All relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Ms. Hollie is the daughter of Edward Wheeler of Crystal Springs and Barbara Green of Byram. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Wheeler and Erma Wheeler of Crystal Springs and Ruby Adams of Terry.

Mr. Porter is the son of Willie and Beatrice Porter of Port Gibson. He is the grandson of the late Henry and Lela Bruce, the late Matila Booker and the late Willie Porter Sr., all of Port Gibson.

The bride-elect is a graduate of Byram High School and studied child care at Hinds Community College.

Ms. Hollie is a cashier at Wal-Mart.

The prospective groom is a graduate of Port Gibson High School, where he was in the band. He attended Hinds Community College, where he received a welding degree.

Mr. Porter is employed at LeTourneau.
