Albert P. Scheller

TREASURE ISLAND, Fla. — Albert Paul Scheller died here Sunday, March 1, 2009.

Mr. Scheller was born July 8, 1912, in Bloomingdale N.J., and had a career in New York City from which he retired as a fireboat captain in the 1960s.

He then worked for the National Park Service, first at Carlsbad Caverns and later, and for many years, at the Vicksburg National Military Park.

Survivors include a brother, Albert O. Scheller; two nephews Richard Ericson and Stephen Ericson; and one niece, Lindell Long.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Maple Grove Cemetery in Kew Gardens, N.Y.

Arrangements in Florida have been under the direction of David C. Gross Funeral Homes, where a condolence book may be signed online.
