PORT GIBSON — Florida Trevillion Shorter died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at University Medical Center in Jackson. She was 70.

A Port Gibson resident, Mrs. Shorter was preceded in death by her parents, Dewey and Annie Trevillion; her husband, Lincoln Shorter; and 11 brothers and three sisters.

She is survived by one son, Virgie Trevillion of Kansas City, Kan.; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Services will be held in conjunction with those of her great-nephew, Rufus Lamar Williams, at 1 p.m. Saturday at Greater St. Mark M.B. Church with the Rev. Barry Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at McCay Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 until 6 p.m. Friday at Thompson Funeral Home in Port Gibson and Saturday at the church from noon until the service.
