ELK GROVE, Ill. — Alice Mathews Herron, formerly of Rolling Fork, died Tuesday, March 3, 2009, at Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elk Grove, Ill. She was 92.

She is survived by her husband, Webster Herron; two sons, Thomas Mathews of Santa Ana, Calif., and Timothy Mathews of Cary; seven daughters, Bettie Legions of Compton, Calif., Linda Hicks of Vicksburg, Georgia Mathews of Rolling Fork and Margaret Hollins, Bobbie Selvey, Fannie Ferguson and Hattie Montgomery, all of Chicago; one brother, Wesley Lewis of Kennesaw, Ga.; 31 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Mount Lula M.B. Church in Rolling Fork with Elijah Eason and Timothy Mathews officiating. Burial will follow at Green Chapel Cemetery. A wake service will be from 4 until 5 p.m. Saturday at Walker Funeral Home in Rolling Fork.
